California minimum wage increase to $9/hour on July 1, 2014

We’re excited about California’s state minimum wage increasing from $8 to $9/hour on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.  This is the first increase in our minimum wage in 6 years.  It’s not a living wage but at least it’s an increase of $40 per week.  Note that this new minimum wage is only temporary and there will be another increase on January 1, 2016 to $10/hour.
